Thuan 'Scotty' Nguyen: Flashy Baby

Thuan Nguyen is one the most successful players in the pro poker circuit. One can easily recognize him due to his bubbly disposition and his every statement that ends with the word "baby". Nguyen is quite active in his career and has been hitting the money for over 100 events since 2000 to 2004. And as of 2005, Nguyen's tournament winnings reached more than $ 4.8 million.

Nguyen's playing style is fierce and lively, and he always aims for huge wins. Making it to the final table too often makes him excited that he doesn't know what to do next. He even jokes that when he was born, the doctors found a tiny deck of cards in his hand. He is a great player and entertainer at the same time that commentaries keep on coming whenever he's at the table, which likely to blow away his opponents. No other player can match Nguyen's charm and he does it effortlessly. Nguyen was truly born to play poker and his goal is to win. He won't stop playing until he gets to his goal.

Scotty Nguyen's famous line "That's poker baby" is used by other pros to express a terrible hit. Nowadays, Nguyen's quoted line is the one he said during the 1998 World Series of Poker to his opponent Kevin McBride. Nguyen told McBride before laying down the cards "You call and it's over, baby"; and it did, McBride called with a full house while Nguyen has a higher full house. He took off with the World Series of Poker title for the Main event and a cash prize of $ 1 million.

Scotty Nguyen is a native of South Vietnam. He arrived in the United States in 1979, when he was fourteen. He lived in Chicago for a year then relocated to California and stayed with another host family. While in California, he got the chance to see how poker was played and the rest is history. Nguyen never forgets his roots for he often visits his family in Vietnam and even sends money to help them out. He has also built his mother a house in Vietnam.

Nguyen is a flashy player and always lives it big. He loves expensive things such as jewelry and designer clothes. He usually wears flashy clothes, gold rings and chains which has become his trademark. This has led him to land a role in the movie "The Big Blind". Nguyen is one player who has made a mark in the pro poker circuit, and it just doesn't stop there. The future holds a big promise for Scotty Nguyen, and he's just waiting for the next tournament to happen.
