David Plastik: Coming Out From the Shell
David Plastik has not been under the spot light since he started playing poker professionally, but he is one poker pro who is known for being competitive. He is also quite emotional when it comes to pressure and expresses sudden outbursts on the table when faced with a difficult or challenging situation.
Nevertheless, David Plastik is a real good poker player. At the 2005 Five Diamonds event of the World Series of Poker, Plastik played his best and won his gold bracelet and the cash prize of $ 212,730, a $ 25,000 and $ 500 buy-in in the 2006 World Poker Tour Championship at the Bellagio. At this point David Plastik seems to come out of his shell and made himself a spot on the lime light. In the 2002 World Series of Poker he lost against Barry Greenstein and was kind of upset saying that he is one unlucky poker player.
Plastik underestimates himself because this is not true. He has won other minor games and other major tournaments as well. David Plastik's major wins include the 1999 Taj Mahal $ 500 Limit Hold'em, the 2000 $ 1000 H.O.S.E. Legends of Poker and the 2000 Harrahs $ 1,500 No Limit Hold'em where he came in second. David Plastic was born in 1964 in Queens, New Jersey. He finished college in the University of Hartford. Somehow in the course of his post graduation life, he found himself in Las Vegas.
As a teenager, he had a niche in freelancing and photography. He used to trail rock bands and sold their picture to magazine publications. After some time, Plastik relocated to Los Angeles to work for his father as a sales representative in his company. During this time, he realized that he has a competitive streak and began playing small-time poker. He used to play at the Commerce Casino and he played above average.
In 1995, David began playing poker as a professional. Sometime in 1997, he started participating in tournaments. Having almost $ 100,000 from his first month of playing pro, he traveled around the country in order to participate in major tournaments. David Plastik is working it slowly but surely particularly after winning at the Five Diamonds tournament. He has accumulated an estimated $ 580,000 worth of poker earnings.
David Plastik also loves other sports and music. He's a fan of the Rolling Stones. Among his pro poker colleagues, he expresses admiration to Allen Cunningham, Chris "Jesus" Ferguson and Scotty Nguyen. David also wishes to make poker known as a major sport in order to get more exposure, promotion and support.
