Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson: a scholarly legend

Chris Ferguson is a native of California, born in the city of Los Angeles. He belongs to the most prominent and important names in the field of online and live poker. Ferguson owns the title of 'Champion of the No-Limit Holdem' of the 2000 World Series of Poker main event. He won $ 1.5 million in cash and defeated an equally prominent opponent, TJ Cloutier, with an A-9 hand.

Chris Ferguson earned the title or nickname 'Jesus' because of his appearance that makes the audience stop and stare. He sports a unique and distinct look that is much like how Jesus Christ is usually perceived and depicted. He has long brown hair, beard and wears a black cowboy hat, which is his signature at every tournament.

Ferguson enjoys playing at the final table and he believes that making it to the finals is what marks a real victor. It is the best time and the best place to be when in a tournament. Ferguson has made it six consecutive times in the World Series of Poker, but he failed to reach the top three during a $ 2000 Pot-Limit Hold'em event. He was disappointed for getting the 4th place.

Setting high standards for his game and himself has always been Ferguson's objective when at the pro poker tournaments. He doesn't make a living out of playing poker, so when he's at the tables he does his best at it. Ferguson believes that playing with the best players is a way to increase his competitiveness and to do better. Nowadays, Ferguson is not as active as he was in the pro poker circuit. He simply enjoys a quiet life in Pacific Palisades in California.
