Alan Betson: Professional Poker Circuit's Funnyman

Alan Betson hails from Ireland and he is a professional poker player who is popular not just because of his poker skills, but also because of his wittiness. Betson always have something funny to say while at the tables. One incident was when he had a match in Las Vegas with a taxi driver and the game ended with a tight draw. Being funny seems to be Betson's stress reliever especially at the tables when things are getting a bit drab. Being funny at the tables have added more popularity to Betson's career and somehow those funny tales themselves became infamous because they were told by someone as famous as Betson.

In an interview with Sportinglife.com, Scott Gray who stood 4th place in the World Series of Poker Main Event of 2002 said that if he's going to host the world's liveliest poker match he would definitely invite Alan Betson for the one-liners and all the other characters of the professional poker circuit to complete his table. Betson is such a notable player and he is quite a ferocious opponent. He became the 'European Texas Hold'em Champion for 2001' and he was awarded with a grand prize of $140,000, when he won the championship at the Euro Finals of Poker held in the Aviation Club, Paris.

In March of 2005, Alan Betson stood 2nd place in the � 2,000 No Limit Hold'em event in the Irish Open which was held in the Citywest Hotel in Dublin. Betson took home a cash prize of �71,500 from his win.

In November of 2005, Betson stood 2nd place again in the � 800 No Limit Hold'em held in Amsterdam at the Holland Casino. There were other 840 players in this event, but the last man standing and took the championship reign was Abdul Khodr who hails from Lebanon. It was a tight finish in which Betson almost won. He won a cash prize of � 71,680 for standing at 2nd place.

Poker events will never be dull and dreary when Alan Betson is around. Even his opponents enjoy his presence and sense of humor for they too are losing their tensions from the pressures of the game.
